Today's title might be a cliché, but it is ironically applicable to today's bike ride too. For those that haven't noticed, it is the first time I've been on a bike in over three weeks, and even though my fitness level was noticeably degraded, the bike handling skills are still there.
The ride today was only 7+ miles from home to church - to help with the festivities of the Fee Fee Family Fun Fest - but it was long enough for my butt to get tired of sitting in the bike saddle (I was only about half way there), and to get the heart rate up & pumping!
It was almost a doubly good bike riding day, too. As I was getting my stuff together to head out this morning, I received the phone call I'd been waiting for - Dory has been rebuilt and was ready to go!! So, I through my road shoes and the Flight Deck computer into my duffle bag along with the street clothes I'd be wearing at the Fun Fest. My plan was after the Fun Fest was over, have my wife take me & Diana (my commuter bike) to the bike shop and I would ride the new & improved Dory home. Well, a line of showers moved through the area about Noon, so the roads were majorly wet, and there were still off-and-on showers, when it was time to head to the bike shop. Needless to say, noodling around the parking lot would have to suffice for a the post-op test drive. Due to the weather conditions and with my right eye not being 100% yet, I thought it best to load Dory in the back of the truck, along side Diana. The new Dory's maiden voyage will have to wait for another day.
