Went out for on a sunny day for sixty miles of mild climbing and ended up getting wet with a flat tire. Started off up Steuben St in Watkins to Reading Center and then on to Dundee. Usually I try to push the first climb and get the average up to fifteen before reaching Dundee but took it fairly easy and wasn't even close to the mark. There is a bridge replacement ongoing on SR 14A and there is a single lane detour with a stop light that doesn't trip for bicycles, nor does it appear to be on a timer. Spent an extended period waiting for a car to come along and trip it. Very frustrating. Had a pleasant downhill to Dundee and legs started to feel better on the climb to Dundee. Had a good crosswind down into Penn Yan and made good time. After getting onto SR 54 in Penn Yan it was a strong tailwind assisted climb to Dresden. Took the scenic route back through the farmland and felt great and pushed a big gear for miles' Thought with a strong finish I could get the average above seventeen and focused on that. Got back onto the highway in Glenora and then the sky opened up and I got soaked. Rode through the rain for a couple miles and came out the other side of the storm. Unfortunately had a puncture that my sealant couldn't plug. Limped home with frequent stops to pump up some pressure with my hand pump. Got home without damaging the rim and got out of inserting a tube. Pretty good ride until it rained.
