Went for a sixty miler north to Ovid and returning through Interlaken with the Big German. We both pleaded for an easy pace as we had both ridden hard over the past couple of days. Had one irate leg muscle that complained once we started climbing into a light steady headwind out of Watkins. There isn't a very good shoulder on SR 414 and we pretty much traded mile long pulls over the twenty miles to Ovid. Pace was high enough that I couldn't spin easily but not hard enough to go into the red, so didn't complain, especially when the draft was so sweet. Once we got to the highpoint in Lodi and wind shifted to a crosswind we covered the last four miles in the mid twenties. The legs actually felt better pushing the pace than when I was grinding out the climb. We rolled into Ovid with a little over eighteen average. After stopping at Ovid and being gouged for fluids at a convenience store, we headed out to Interlaken with a slight tailwind. With a wide shoulder, we no longer had to ride in line and pace slowed down accordingly. After a fairly easy ride to Reynoldsville the pace picked up again as we descended from Bennettsberg and speeds lingered in the upper thirties for awhile. Things slowed back relatively into the twenties along Skyline before a fast descent into Montour to finish off the ride a little under nineteen. Legs felt better after the ride then before so despite not really taking it easy, had a fast ride without really taxing the body.
