 Millport ITT XII
This mornings ride was Ridge Road in the traditional rotation that has the twenty miles of climbing followed by seven miles of descent. Wind was out of the south and spun the long grade to Horseheads. Took it easy for the most part as I planned on hammering the same grade later in the afternoon for the time trial. Planned on climbing at a solid pace up the three hills to Seymourville with the aid of the south wind then hammering the downhill to and through Odessa to heat the legs up for later. Didn't work out well though as had nothing in the legs. They spun nice and felt good until I loaded them up and they just didn't put out any power. So ended up doing some weak spinning and slow climbing to the top of the hills. Just coasted on the downhills rather than hammered as planned and finished off the ride hopefully without stressing the system further.

Weather was good for the trial with the temperature near eighty and the wind out of the west. Legs still didn't feel very strong during the warmup but kept good speed just spinning. Figured today's run would be a good test of the cardio portion of the system as didn't think the legs would be having any snap any time soon. Started out well and tried to keep the knees in and the cadence high. Uphill portion of the run was decent but not spectacular as I was hitting all the timechecks that would give me a twenty-five average. First four miles were actually a little slow but held the speed for mile four and that averaged things out. Turnaround wasn't very good today as had to cruise pass the marker until traffic cleared. Not as clean as last week but at least didn't have to stop. Turned back onto the downhill section and had the same strategy as on the way up- keep aero and spin. Didn't spend much time over thirty today but was able to hold the high twenties. No pushing hard off the saddle today as spent most of the five miles riding the rivets. Had a twenty-five four coming around RBI and even thought I might have a great time if I could hammer the curse. Didn't happen though as the spin started dying out over the last mile and had to struggle to hold speed. Finished with a 23:34 which was pretty good but still sixteen seconds down from last week. Had lost a few seconds on the turnaround but doubt I lost sixteen seconds. Fine ride with light legs.
