I waited until after lunch today and the weather to clear some before taking off for Lake Conestee. Once off the normal path and onto the official Swamp Rabbit Trail leading to Conestee the trail has deteriorated. Some of it is overgrown, some of the shaker gravel has washed away and the bed of coarse gravel is exposed, and some area have the shaker gravel washed into deep piles that are dangerous to ride through. Also it had rained out south of town and the Lake Conestee Ztrail was still pretty wet. I cut through the town of Conestee and above the old Municipal Stadium. When I pulled down to Mauldin Road and peeked to see traffic to my left. A white Ford pickup tooted at me when I saw that it was my buddy Lou. I pulled in the lower lot at the stadiums and was checking out the new fields when I saw Lou's truck pull in behind me. We chatted at the stadium for a while. Then I rode to the upper lot and out on Mauldin Road to Fairforest and did much of my FF/ICAR route.
