Need to start working on some climbs as the flat races of July are done and the next races are going to have some serious climbs in them. Headed up to the top of Catlin hill. Actually had a fairly good climb for me averaging 11 mph to the top of the hill. Kept climbing after that as I headed over to the descent on the Breed Hollow Road. Had something like 1350 ft of climbing in the first eight miles and over 2000 ft before I got over the numerous climbs and coasted down to the Big Flats area. Turned around and climbed back up the Hibbard road which was a long steady climb with some serious grade involved. Good day for climbing though as there was a really nasty west wind blowing. Had a decent day on some steep climbs.
Took an evening ride and ended up climbing up Old Odessa Hill and the up Lower Foots Hill. Was climbing really well so decided to try and break the 45 minute mark for a course we used to race on back in the 90s. The 13 mile course had seven miles of steady climb followed by six miles of fast downhill mostly on Skyline Drive. Kept speeds in the thirties and was very happy to finish it at 44:10. Not my best time by a long shot but it was a personel best for the last several years. Took a cruise to Watkins to cool off.
