Exceptionally nice day out with bright sunshine and a mild south wind. Went out with Mark for a friendly ride to Perry City. Course is fairly mild with one good climb up Jackson Hill to get out of the valley. Then it is just rollers and flats for twenty odd miles before a fast descent down Skyline to home. Legs were still a bit heavy but had more energy than I had yesterday. I let Mark set the pace for most of the ride, so didn't have to struggle on the climb and sucked up the draft whenever he would decide to stretch his legs. After the climb and descent to Odessa we climbed out of town and rode through the heavily wooded east side of Cayuta Lake. Mark hammered off into the distance. I rode leisurely through the trees and looked for Bigfoot and enjoyed the shade. It won't be long err the leaves change color and fall from the trees. Caught up with Mark outside of Cayutaville and rode a little harder after that. He started doing some speed intervals on the downgrades and as long as I jumped quickly into his draft the thirty mile plus speeds were fairly easy. Did a couple of fast pulls myself through Benettsberg as the legs started felling stronger. We kept the pace up into the wind across Skyline and finished strong. Legs felt better after the ride than before so I guess the speed work didn't do any damage despite my desire to take it easy. Thank the road gods for the sweet, sweet draft.
