This morning I took off intending to climb the Greenville side of Paris Mountain then return to town on Old Buncombe Road. As I started the ride I knew that my right hamstring was complaining to me so I decided to skirt around the base of PM then find what ever miles I needed to finish up a quarter. I rode my normal route to Altamont but passed by it on State Park and turned onto Timber. I have a route through there that I have taken to Old Buncombe a few times. This time instead of staying on Jervey back toward Pete's I turned onto South Parker and explored some areas that I hadn't ridden before. Eventually it came back to where Jervey would have ended but I had added a few neat miles getting there. I was passed by a Model A then saw it parked in a driveway and two guys talking. I stopped and asked what year it was and they said that it was a 1930 sedan and it's for sale. Then I headed on toward Old Bumcombe and passed by the other end of Altamont. I followed the frontage road into TR and headed to the creamery to see if it was open. Jenn had just opened up and I had a kiddie cup of coffe/vanilla twist.
Then I headed back to Old Buncombe and rode it back to town. I stopped by Mike and Jeff's Barbecue and told Jeff that I appreciated his comments about the road diet that was proposed for Old Buncombe. I also asked about his leg as he had surgery on it a couple of weeks ago. I have worked with his wife Cindy over 20 years and Cis and I stopped in there for b-b-q a week ago. Then it was on home. I followed Old Buncombe to James to Earle and took Townes to Park Avenue. That goes straight to East North and on home.
