 What a great ride!
Glen, Steve, and their friend Tom, showed up before I headed out of the parking lot, so we all took off together.

Thanks to the re-contruction of New Town Blvd, we headed out the other way to Boschertown Rd to catch Hwy B - the way I came back last week after the 'daring' trek through the construction zone. Well, turns out Boschertown Rd is closed for construction too, so we swerve over into Charlestown to get to New Town and catch New Town Blvd right at the end of the construction zone and catch Hwy B.

Once the 'sight seeing' was done and we were out on the normal route, we settled into a brisk pace line at 18 MPH. As we were approaching the turn off Hwy 94 onto Reese Rd, another group of about 10 riders were passing us. They invited us to jump on their train, and after a brief discussion we agreed to take them up on the offer. For the better part of the next 15+ miles I pretty much hung at the back of the group cruising around 22 MPH while exerting 60-70% effort - that is the advantage of drafting, approximately 30% increase in efficiency. When I ride this same section of road by myself, I am usually between 16 & 20 MPH (or more) depending on the wind's speed & direction. While waiting for Tom, we noted that our current avg speed for the ride to this point was 18.8 - would be a personal best if we were able to maintain this speed the last few miles.

As we arrived back at Hwy B, Tom had fallen a ways off the back, so Glen & Steve wanted to wait for him to catch-up before continuing. We also needed to decide which route to take, since we now know Boschertown Rd is closed, too. The first choice was east on Hwy B to 94 to Little Hills Dr (which has a not so little hill) or west on Hwy B to Seeburger, to Bethman and around to Fountain Lakes Blvd - we chose the latter route, and made it back to our cars right as the sun was setting.
