Ride Description: I wanted to do 25 miles at Kettle today, but it rained again last night and they closed the Blue/Green Loops. the other trails were not open until after 10:00 so I stayed home and rode in the backyard.
I also rode Moore Woods Road hill. Earlier, I tried out some riding video in the backyard using my new home made handlebar and helmet mounts.

I found a kool website with a lot of really neat photographic tips, ideas, and projects (Click on the "Our Newsletter" tab for more). One of the kool tips was how to make your own DIY BikeCam - $10 / 10 minutes. photojojo.com/content/diy/attach-a-camera-to-your-bike/
I made a couple of them, (I made mine with a 1.5" screw/bolt instead of the 2" they suggested) then tested it on my mountain bike in the backyard.
You can watch them here... gallery.me.com/xrsmith Yeah they're crappy, (If you want high quality, see "Roam" & "The Collective".) but it was only a test, and it was fun.
It works pretty good. It will definitely work better riding on smooth surfaces, but I tried it on my mountain bike.
I mainly wanted to try my hand at video making using iMovie on my MacBook. This is my 1st attempt at video/film making, and I didn't spend much time editing. I'm just trying to get familiar with the software.
It was fun, and it turned out OK. Some (OK a lot!) of the video vibrates too much, but I found some good music to distract you from the poor video quality. (I used my own music for the second half of the "Riding In The Backyard" video because the timing was right.) Basically it's raw video with music added.
On September 1, I added a new version (Backyard - Let's Go For a Ride) where I used different music for the second half (I should have just made two videos) and I made use of some special effects, and I took a little more time editing.
Now that I know how easy it is, my next project will be more creative and include quality singletrack. If that goes well, I may have to invest in a high quality video camera. (or two) Ride On!
