 Logan & ITT
Rained most of the day yesterday and I took the day off the bike. Also rained in the morning though weather was supposed to clear up in the afternoon. Usually ride early in morning on ITT day and carbo load at the end of it. Ended up pushing the morning ride into early afternoon and carbo loading right before the ride. Felt poorly on the climb up skyline and wasn't sure whether it was eating too much, taking a day off or even burn out. Struggled up the hill and took it easy for the remainder of the ride. Finished the ride feeling drained and had to immediately get ready for the timetrial.

Ate some toast to try to calm my stomach and rode to Watkins for the warmup. Wasn't really psyched for the ITT but figured I'd give it a shot anyway. Kind of caught a break as my minute man had trouble getting his foot in the cleat. Started out hard for first mile but was a little off at the first mile mark. Caught a break as a couple of tractor trailers passed by and gave a nice slipstream to accelerate in even if it only lasted a few seconds. Caught sight of my minute man as he went around a corner around mile two and found I was only forty seconds down. Pushed hard on to mile three and started catching more glimpses of my man as we traveled the curving road. Kept pushing and was reeling him in and thought I might have him before the turnaround. Came up about ten seconds short and he had a clean turnaround while I was delayed by a truck. Turnaround time was slower than last time as I only averaged 23.5 up. Kept gaining after the turn and kicked the gear up to my eleven cog which I was spinning well and passed my minute man before mile eight. Legs got a little heavy after I caught him and slowed down a little and he stuck on me and me passed coming back into town. We sprinted on the last downgrade to the finish and I picked upa couple seconds on him finishing in 23:13 at 25.9 mph average. Time was eight seconds lower than last time but was happy with it as I wasn't feeling that well. Have some concern that I may have peaked for the summer last week but hopefully I've got enough miles in that my decay won't be too severe. Took a cool down ride by riding up Fitzpatrick Hill to Odessa with a rider that had parked in Odessa and ridden to the ITT. Thought I would be wasted but actuaaly had a fairly decent climb.
