Legs were heavy again so opted for a short ride to Rock Stream. Pretty much do the SR14 & 14A Combo climb out of Watkins then descend to Rock Stream and return above the lake. Climbs went really well and decided to keep the pace going and see what kind of time I could get if the legs held out. Turned off 14A in Reading Center onto CR 29 and saw there was a road closed sign. The road wasn't blocked off, so I figured I would descend to whatever caused the blockage and either pass through, backtrack or take a crossroad. Only went a mile until found cop cars blocking the road so turned around and headed back to Reading Center. Contemplated doing some additional climbing but the mood had passed and my horses were ready to head for the barn. Coasted on the downhill through Irelandville and soft pedaled home. Found out when I got home that the road was closed because a young Mennonite woman cyclist had supposedly run a stop sign on a downhill crossroad to CR 29 and ran into the side of a town truck and was killed. Bummer.
