Rode with Mark today on a fairly vigorous outing. We started up Jackson Hill at a fairly easy pace for me with my mediocre climbing skills but a bit harder on Mark since he climbs in the clydesdale category. When he fell behind on the steeper section I spun on ahead and put enough effort in to get the average up to eleven. I waited in Catherine, and once regrouped we continued climbing into the wind to Seymourville. After we crested the hill we started to swap heavy pulls down the Ridge Road to Horseheads. Did a little intensity training by playing king of the mountain whenever we encountered a knoll. Downhill turned out to be quite a bit more strenuous on me than the climb was. We then went up the small climb up Hickory Grove on out way to Murphey Hill. That small climb was very hard on my legs that had been heavily taxed doing the intervals, and it felt like I was climbing with the brakes rubbing and flat tires. Recovered on the back side before we popped one more knoll on Hickory grove. Had a decent climb on Murphey Hill. First couple of miles in a steady grade and only gets steep over the last half mile where it connects with the Chambers road. After fast downhill to Chambers we started trading vigorous pulls on our way back on SR 414. We kept the speed in the mid twenties for a few miles that wasn't too bad as we had a fair tailwind. Turned out to be a strong workout.
