After Sunday's race my body surrendered to the cold that had become officially a flu. Suffered for a couple of days and didn't do anything but eat and sleep when I was able. Finally decided to try a short ride today as head had mostly cleared and didn't want to lose any more fitness than I had already lost. Used to be the general consensus that fitness begins degrading after just three days and will be totally gone in twelve days with no exercise. Didn't feel like doing much but figured a slow ride around town might let my body know I hadn't given up yet. Was planning on just taking a few laps around town but when I got to a short climb at the south end of Genesse St, I found that the road had been recently oiled and chipped. Definitely didn't want to deal with a possible flat tire and kept riding to the south then turned around when I got to Millport. Wasn't too happy when it started to rain lightly but it was another day of at least I didn't get soaked. Had no power and really didn't feel like riding but the legs kept turning when I asked them too. Have a very hilly Metric Century in PA on Saturday that I should be able to do if the flu continues to abate.
