 Millport ITT XI
Weather forecast nearly 100% chance of rain\thunderstorms for late in the day so rode hard on the Logan route in case the time trial got called on account of rain. Stood up the entire steep part of the climb up Skyline and it wasn't that good of a climb but at least I didn't crack this week. Tailwind helped on the lesser grade over the top of Skyline and had good leg speed and actual speed out to SR 79. Had a decent ascent up to Logan today by climbing hard and steady in the saddle. I think they have torn down the stone silo that used to mark the top of the climb as I don't remember seeing it on the last few rides to Logan. Got to Logan nearly half a mile ahead of last week's time and kept the pressure up on the downhill.Had a good enough average going that I thought I'd be able to pull out a mid-nineteen average with a strong effort on the back nine. Things went well and flew down the course and had the average up to 19.2 as I pulled into Watkins. Lost a good deal getting through the traffic and had to work hard to just get back up to 19.0 on the flats back to Montour. Still had a very strong ride and legs felt terrific.

Light rain had passed through early in the afternoon and radar showed most of the remaining storm clouds to be hanging south of Millport. Got suited up for the timetrial and thought I would have to do it alone when one friend showed up at the last minute. He had brougt his beater bike and decided to ride it in case it rained as he didn't want to get his fast mount dirty. Forecast had also called for a north wind but found out that wasn't true on the first mile of the course. Time was lower than average at the first and second checkpoints and legs felt okay so figured it must be a pretty good wind. Can't really feel the wind very well in my aero position, but was sure I would have a good tailwind coming back through the curse. Time's didn't improve at mile three and four but held steady. Speed dropped again after the third knoll and am still going too far into the red to get over that hump. Tried going out of the saddle on it and it didn't seem to make much difference. Had a great turn around and had a 23.3 mph average at the start of the back five. Came out of the saddle after making the turn and got back up to speed quickly. Felt the tailwind and kept the speed above thirty most of the way back and bumped over 32 on a couple of sections. Had the average up to 25.4 around RBI corner and thought I might be able to break the 23 minute barrier with a strong effort through the curse. Legs didn't have enough left though and couldn't keep the momentum through it but it was a strong enough push to score my best time of the year with a 23:18. A little more speed on miles four and nine and I just might break the barrier again this year. Rain held offuntil we finished our cooldown tour. Was very pleased with two strong rides today.
