 Another exciting night of softball.
It was a quicker turn around time tonight after riding home from work. Game time tonight is 6:30, so just enough time to change clothes, grab something to eat and head out the door.

I was expecting 11 players to show up, and found out one would be late due to other afternoon activities. However, another person failed to show up on time too, so we started the game covering the field with only 9 players. We were able to keep pace offensively, and minimize the damage while in the field. Our tenth player showed up in the fourth of 5th inning, with a close score. We were tied as they came to bat in the bottom of the 6th inning when they other team exploded for 8 runs – we did some imploding that assisted them, too. We were in the heart of the order when we came up in the top of the 7th, but failed to get a runner on base despite hitting the ball hard.

The second game wasn’t much different – back and forth through out – though we had ten fielders from the start. They took a 2 run lead in the top half of the last inning, and we came to bat in the middle of the order, again. By time I came to bat and reached base, I represented the tying run. I ended scoring a little while later, and the winning run was on third base with two outs. The batter hit a rolling ground ball towards the hole between first & second, that was field by the first baseman as he ranged to his right and went down in kind of a splits position. Our runner on third was heading for home. The first baseman wasn’t in much of a position to make the throw home in time for a tag play, nor was there much of a chance to get the batter running to first, despite the second baseman running over to try and cover first. Run scored since no out was recorded; game over!
