  | Temperature was on the cool side and north wind was really whipping today. Kept to the wooded hills to try to avoid the north wind which I had little stomach for today. Climbed Dug Road at an comfortable but slow pace. I believe my time up the climb on my mountain bike last spring was probably shorter but at least on the road bike I wasn't out of wind at the top. Had a good crosswind up the lesser second climb up through Moreland and finished off the final climb up Bronson Hill. Bronson Hill for some reason was not nearly as hard as I remembered it. Had nearly two thousand feet of climbing in the first eight miles and nothing was left but a rolling downhill from Townsend to Watkins and a good tailwind home. Thought I would try to get the average speed up to a lowly fifteen miles an hour by the finish but by the time I got halfway down the hill it became obvious that it was mathematically impossible. Kept a good clip home and had a good but slow short ride. I was able to stay out of the wind for nearly all the course which was a big plus.
