Checked my map and found out for sure where the turn off to Snake Hill was located and then headed out to conquer it. Wind was out of the south today and really didn't have any desire to push the headwind up the grind to Pine Valley. Opted for some climbing as opposed to the wind and climbed up Fitzpatrick Hill Road then headed over to Middle road and down into Horseheads. The bridge has been completed on Middle Rd for awhile now so I can put the road back in the rotation. First hill went well though I no longer am pushing the hills and just outlasting them. Still was a good ride up to one short fifteen percent hop from Fitzpatrick to Middle where I wasn't sure whether my heart or legs would sieze up first. Went from feeling okay to very not okay in less than a quarter mile. Had to slow way done to facilitate recovery but it didn't take long before I was spinning along nicely again. Made the turn in Horseheads and headed back to Pine Valley where I picked up the Snake Hill Rd. Hill started out very mild but got very steep after rounding a curve. Steep part doesn't last long and grade drops back below ten percent fo the second half of the mile and a half climb. Reached the top and headed across Prospect Hill Rd and descended Stits Hill Rd which climbs parallel to Snake Hill but is a much nastier climb. Caught the tailwind for an easy pace home. Neither climbing or riding well but still enjoyed the eighty degree weather which soon be a thing of the past.
