I spent the late morning and early afternoon watching the USA Cycling National Time Trials over at the ICAR. The trials were pretty exciting with Taylor Phinney beating Levi Leipheimer by .14 seconds over a 20.7 mile course/ There was a god turnout of fans, competitors, and miscellaneous people (volunteers, workers, Elvis Impersonators, etc.) I am hoping to get downtown or somewhere else along the route to watch the road race tomorrow. Late in the afternoon I took off on East North Street but turned on Laurens Road to go to Cleveland Park and catch the Swamp Rabbit down there. I used to ride there a lot but haven't been on that end of the trail in some time much the same as the ICAR. They have been widening and resurfacing most of the Swamp Rabbit in Cleveland Park and they are doing the prep work to install a new bridge to get around the very narrow pass on the McDaniel Street bridge.
The ride went fairly well. I was a little worried and haven't ridden the last two days as my lower back has tightened up to the place that it is very painful to walk. But I had no problem riding with it. I had a one hour massage on it yesterday and Paula really worked it over but said that it is a real mess this time. With all of the hours at work this year I haven't been getting my regular massages from Paula. I need to get back on a regimen and let her work her magic. I had been very regular in going to her and consider it to be preventative maintenance for my back.
