When I pulled into the parking lot at work, I took the long way around the building in order to get another couple extra tenths of a mile. I did this to push my current YTD miles over the 4000 miles mark and that I would match or surpass the mark I set in 2009 for the second most miles accumulated in a year (the most I’ve done is 7010 in 2005 which included my transcontinental bike ride). Just now looking at my journal I see that 2009’s total is actually 4000.2, and right now for 2011 I am at 4000.1. It is just a little disappointing that I didn’t actually leap over that milestone yet, but I know I will do it when I leave for home this afternoon!
Also today I completed my 100th commute of the year. Last year I didn't reach #100 until Nov 17, so this comes almost 2 full months ahead of last years pace which ended with 116 for the year. I haven't given it much thought as to where this years number will land, but it will probably be around 135-140. Wow! That's even a little staggering for me considering prior to last year I would do good just to get into the 95 to 100 range each year.
