Decided to try and get back on the bike as I saw the end of the summer out yesterday at the State Fair, and of course have quite a few calories to burn off from a lax summer and fried carny treats. Tried to figure out a not too strenuous route with at least one climb but had difficulty as most of the secondary roads have recently been chipped stoned. Having ridden over several miles of sharp stones over the last few rides I really didn't want to cut up my tires any worse than they already are. Ended up heading up to Reading Center at an easy pace. I did ride the route in the big chain ring and that did have me getting out of the saddle for the final steep half mile to Reading. Made the turn back to Irelandville and found the road had recently been stoned. The stoning wasn't too recent though and the surface wasn't too bad if I stayed in the tire tracks. Pretty much coasted home but did kick it up the last couple of miles to get the average up to fifteen before the finish. Not a bad slow ride and got home a good fifteen minutes before the thundershowers struck.
