 T-burg
North wind blew in some cool weather again and figured yesterday was a good opportunity for rest. Today it had warmed back up to a comfortable sixty degrees. Climbed Old Odessa and headed out to Mechlenberg on SR 228. Most of the loose stones from the recent resurfacing seems to have been swept from the road. I don’t think that the work done was much of an improvement as it appears they downgraded the quality of the pavement. Had a slight north wind that kept the speed down on the way out and rode at a comfortable touring speed. Trees are starting to look a little stressed and I fear the leaves are not long for this world. There doesn’t seem to be much color yet and it might be one of those years that they don’t change much before falling off. I didn’t climb out of Mechlenberg as I avoided the hill and cut through the back road to Perry City. I did do the long climb up Searsburg Rd to the tower. Spun up it at an easy rate. Passed a good sized group of women cyclists at one of the crossroads. They appeared to be either lost trying to decide which way to go. Stopped at the top of the climb and soaked in some of the views of the valleys and hills below before going into coast mode to finish off the ride. Got some good speed into the crotch just before Logan. The road has recently been paved and now it is possible to dive down the steep section at a high rate of speed and make the sharp turn at the bottom and keep enough momentum to roll up the other side. The bottom section used to be pretty rough near the bridge and also used to have an ill spirited dog at the bottom that when combined made the passage at times a wee bit perilous. It is all good now and a good bit of fun. Kind of a slow ride today but had enough variety to maintain my interest.
