 Winners all around.
A great day to ride to/from work, and then played a softball double-header against another team in our leauge that is 0 for the season.

We started out the first game by putting 3 runs on in the first, that was aided by the pitcher struggling to throw stikes and us being patient at the plate. They turned around in the bottom of the first putting their first two batters on, one by a walk, and their #3 hitter cranked the ball over the right-center field fence. The game continued back-and-forth the next couple innings, but we eventually prevailed 15-8. Then in ths second game we held them scoreless in the top of the 1st, then turned around and batted through the order to put 5 runs on the board. We never looked back, winning 12-2 in 5 innings. Much better offensive production on our part - they were a solid defensive team, not giving us but one or two extra outs the whole night - and we were pretty stable in the field, too.

As we were playing lots of folks were checking their smartphones for updates on the Cardinals game against the Astros. The Cards were losing 5-0 when I got to the ballfield, and tied it up as our games were starting. The Cards went on to win 13-6, and finally pulled into a tie with the Braves in the Wild Card race - their third chance in the last week to do so. We'll see how the two teams play tonight to see if a one-game playoff is necessary tomorrow.
