Its back to more climbing in a vague hope that constant climbing will toughen me up enough that I don't embarrass myself in Georga mountains at the end of the month. So just went up and down today with few if any flat miles. Started up Old Odessa and continued up Lower Foots Hill for the first thousand feet of climbing then descended to Burdett and a fast descent into Watkins Via SR 79\414. Neither climb is very hard though both have short sections of ten or twelve percent. Next climb was up Old Corning Hill. It is also not one of the more difficult hills as it is fairly short gaining four hundred feet in a little over a mile. Fast descent down Stueben St into Montour than a two plus long climb up Dug Road. Kept heading up to Moreland and hit Catlin Hill Road that is a very nasty climb. Not the toughest climb around but very mean-spirited with fifteen percent grades and no real break until you are over the top. Descended down Chambers Road into Chambers and found that they are paving it. They had completed my downhill side of the climb at least over the steep part but had to get off the hot tar as I got closer to the actual paving operation near the bottom. The next climb was also a nasty one up Bronson Hill, but it really is not in the same league as Catlin that was my premium climb of the day. Descended into Townsend and took a back road back to Watkins but only descended until I hit Old Corning Hill about halfway up the climb. So climbed the upper half of Old Corning again to finish off the day's climbing adventure. Descended back into Montour down Steuben St again. I was able to achieve my goal of one-hundred feet of climbing per mile and was satisfied with the fourteen mile an hour average as climbed at a consistent speed all day without emptying the tank. If I can hold that pace in Georgia, I should be able to finish in the daylight.
