Missed another day of riding yesterday due too some more of the unpleasantness of a rain filled day. Still cloudy and cool but not nearly as bad as Tuesday's ride. Went out to check out some more steep hills today. First hill right out of town was Park's Hill. Used to be Charley Park's hill but there are very few people left alive that remember Charley. Started off standing and making good time but after a quarter mile or so I felt terrible. By the time I hit the 21% section I thought that I'd have to get off and walk. My climbing legs didn't last long at all this year. Struggled through the black spots and nausea and finally got over the top. The hill isn't the toughest around, but it ties with Stits Hell rd for the steepest max grade. Got to climb a few more miles at a descent grade to get to the base of the next hill that starts in Beaver Dams. Had around 850 of climbing in about nine miles to get there. Second hill of the day was Hornby Hill. This is another used to be legendary climb that has been gentled by new pavement. Used to have broken pavement, sand sections and skull sized rocks jutting up in the road. It still has some broken pavement and a short section of dirt but it no longer gives me the sense of dread that it used too. Another good climb but once I calculate the rating I think it will fall in the middle of the climbs. Still had a few more climbs to get to and out of Hornby but nothing really nasty. Out Hornby way is about as Banjo spooky as it gets around here. Got escorted for a mile or so by a road dog that was content just to run along side me. Did have a large pack of beagles start to come after me but they couldn't or at least didn't desire to pursue very long on the downgrade. Finally got over the climbs and headed down hill into Painted Post. Suffered alot in the climbs but kind of liked it. Ride got boring after that as I headed out toward Savona and then back up the long steady grade with an in your face headwind out to Altay. Usually not a bad section of road but today I just wanted to get it over. Did catch a nice tailwind descent back home from Reading Center to finish off an overall lackluster ride.
