 Let the good times roll!
Nothing was on the agenda today, until the reunion gathering at 6 PM tonight, which is being held at the San Diego Yacht Club, just a few blocks from my hotel. When I woke up I took a peek out the window and noticed the street below lined with a bunch of traffic cones. Then there were cyclists rolling by. Later, when I went down for breakfast, I stepped out and talked to a couple of the folks standing and watching the cyclist and found out it was the San Diego Triathlon Classic - cool! I wish I had known about this ahead of time. I might have gone over to the start/finish/transition area, just a few blocks away, and enjoyed some of the atmosphere there, much like I do when working the Lake St Louis Triathlon each year!

I pretty much lounged in my room all day, and kind of looked for something to do, including renting a bicycle, but could decide on anything. I was also half-waiting for a childhood friend to call to maybe hook-up and catch-up on life, but that call didn’t happen – turns out he was sick, diagnosed w/pneumonia, on his birthday no less.

When I was hungry for lunch, I decided I go about a half mile away to a nearby In-N-Out Burger. While on my way there, waiting at the intersection where the restraint is located to make my left hand turn, I noticed a group of cyclist crossing through the intersection (from my right to left) and wishing I was out on a bike ride enjoying the beautiful weather and great sights. In-N-Out was fairly busy (surprise, surprise) even at 2 PM, so I placed my order to go. As I was returning to my hotel, waiting at a light to make another left, that same group of cyclists were waiting on the adjacent street, to my right, waiting to continue their trek which they did when their light turned green. I sat there and watched w/envy, waiting for my light!

It was a beautiful evening at the yacht club and the reunion started out on the balcony/dock with drinks & a few hors d'oeuvres. Then after a couple group pictures, it was time to eat and continue mingling. There was no program planned, aside from a PowerPoint showing pictures from previous reunions, and family shots of many of my classmates.

I had several great conversations, but there were also a few people that I didn’t even get a chance to say "Hi". Could have used another hour or two, but it was all good!
