 Visiting Ride
Today I rode the Trek from home to ride out Old Buncombe Road to Travelers Rest then return on the trail. I rode to Cleveland Park, then cut through town to reach Old Buncombe. The skateboard park had one rider, but there was a lot of traffic coming out of the Poe Mill area. I took Old Buncombe north then turned off at the neighborhood Walmart and road the Vinings’ trail over to the Furman campus. I rode through Furman and came out the north entrance and worked my way back to Old Buncombe Road. I followed it until it ends at the Gazebo in Travelers Rest. I took the trail to my turn around point across from the creperie and turned back south. I stopped at the Gazebo and refilled one water bottle. Ken and Mark were riding north when I was heading south through Furman. The wind had been fighting me going north, but it was pushing e south down the trail. I passed an older couple a few times that were wearing Alaska jerseys and slowed down to ride with them. I rode with them back to the Cafe and we stopped for a treat. I had a Rosemary Peach smoothie and bought a peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie to bring home for Cissi. I sat with Ron and Betsy and visited for a while. I finally told them that I had to head on home before it got too hot. I rode back through the parks and climbed the big hill home.

Ron and Betsy are from Kansas City and have been riding around Florida. The hurricane canceled all their reservations so they have been heading north and riding as they go. They have been riding in northern Georgia and are here right now and plan to do Asheville tomorrow. We talked about Worlds of Fun in KC and the Zambezi Zinger that was there. They have also ridden in Iowa quite a bit and told me that I need to go home to ride!
