 Jeff and the Trail
This morning I drove to the Cafe and rode south to meet Jeff. We met just south of El Thrifty Tacos and turned north to ride. We kind of fiddled around today - looking at this and that. We rode up the trail, then circled the lake at Furman. We went up the trail to TR then north to the north end. We turned back and Jeff stopped at the Sunoco close to the north end for a drink. We stopped in TR at the Gazebo and I finished my bottle and refilled it there. We rode south and circled the lake at Furman in the opposite direction. There was a group of students on campus riding to town for some kind of protest. They wanted us to ride with them, but Jeff was inside and I told them no. They left before Jeff came out, but then we circled the lake and headed south on the trail. Wen we reached the pocket park there was a guy putting a new tube on a wheel. We stopped to help him, but soon I realized that nobody there was short a wheel. He said it was for a girl riding in the group from Furman. She had done an endo and a faceplant and pretty beat up and had a flat. We helped him, then went on. I told Jeff that I was glad we weren’t trying to ride with them. We stopped at the Cafe and Jeff ordered a 3 Li’l Pigs pizza and I bought a Fall Spice smoothie. I also bought a cinnamon sugar doughnut and had them give me a cookie that I was shorted yesterday. Jeff went over to talk to Jackie and Mary that run the Cafe. After that Jeff and I headed into town and ran into Kimberly. We have seen Kimberly nearly every week somewhere on our rides. Kimberly is trying to help a woman start a bike repair shop in Newberry and was telling us about that. Once downtown we headed for the south end of the trail. Jeff wanted to say that he had ridden end to end on the trail, so we headed south and climbed the big hills on the south part of the trail. I also showed Jeff where I wrecked. At the south end Jeff went into the bowling alley and bought 2 waters for us. We rode back into the parks and Jeff wanted to climb the hill next to the "Root" tree. I’ve been up that kill a few times, so we went up the hill. Jeff stopped partway up because his hamstrings were barking at him! But he went up the hill. In Falls Park Jeff stopped to go in Papi’s Taco and bought more bottles of water for us. I dropped Jeff off at Linky Stone Park, then rode back to the Cafe to finish my ride.
