 Tour de Paws
This morning I rode an out and back course from the Duncan area for the Tour de Paws. I saw Ken and Steve S and also Lou S before it started. There must have been over 200 riders and we started in a huge clump. But the riders were organized and courteous. I rode the 27 mile out and back ride. The 27-milers turned off the main route after 4 miles out, but we were still grouped in a fairly tight group. We hit the first of 3 large hills 5 miles out and those hills spaced the group out. There was a rest stop at the turn-around point. It was at a gas station along I-26. I had 2 slices of watermelon and refilled my water bottle. Short Bobby called me right before I pulled in, so I called him back while at the rest stop. On the ride back I was passed by several good riders that must have been returning from some of the longer rides. I also passed several other riders. The chit-chat among the riders was a little funny. I had some funny talks along the way. There was one guy that had a jersey like my friend Steve. I said something to him and he said his name is Steve. There were several funny conversations that made the ride fun. There were also 3 tough hills on the ride back, but it was a good ride. I rode in with a guy that he and I had passed each other several times. It was a good ride.

Bill and I met this afternoon to take an afternoon ride. We were worried about the heat and the high sun, so we stayed in the neighborhood. The weather was actually very nice and Bill and I chatted for the whole ride. We had one girl really ran at us. We talked about Ken Burns’ series on country music. It was a good ride and we had a good time.
