So I wanted to get in a few miles before the rains started to hit us, but stop with enough time to clear the deck by the pool and store stuff in the garage, etc.
Now, that it hasn't started to rain yet, I wish that I had stuck it out and stayed with the riding for over forty miles, since its been so long since riding that much in one day. Who says that this is addicting....not me.
One of the secrets for me to put in the longer rides is certainly to pace myself, and keep it to about 12 mph or slower, and to stop every five miles or so for a minute or two. The stopping for short breaks seems to be the real secret, which allows me to extend the ride much further than if I simply rode for ten or fifteen miles before the first break.
Its just something I have learned over the past years of riding the bike.
Actually, it makes putting in the miles, when I want to, at least twice as easy as before I tumbled to this little technique. And, averaging somewhere around 12mph ain't bad for me. That's showing a little progress for me.
Now, with this tropical storm/hurricane, which we seem to be right in the path of; will keep me off the bike for the next couple of days.
