Lake & Harlem Cycle Group

We are a group of road cyclists located near Lake and Harlem (Oak Park/River Forest IL), riding year round, road distances ranging 20-100+ miles, cruising at 22+ mph, average pace of 18-20+ mph, with sprints up to 30+ mph. *During colder weather, the pace necessarily drops down a bit!*

Our e-group was created to assist in scheduling training rides and the occasional trip to organized road rides. You are welcome to join in for a ride, but consider our ride descriptions above -- we are a fairly aggressive bunch! Just show up at the appointed time/location and introduce yourself. Note that we do expect all riders to wear a helmet, dress prepared for the weather, have a well-maintained bike, and carry rudimentary tools (spare tube, patch kit, pump, money, etc.).
Following are the current default road ride times and locations. (These are subject to change!)
- Monday through Friday -- depart either 5:30 or 6 am from Madison and East Aves (OP) for the weekday loop (20 miles). (Note - the 6 am ride is better attended)
- Saturday and Sunday -- depart 7 am from Lake St and Harlem Ave (OP/RF). Rides range from 25-50 miles.
