moderate effort. I could have pushed harder, but wanted to stay with the group. I lead part of the way on the uphill, and lead all the way downhill and back. |

On the way back I rode with one rider who seemed effected by the heat. He usually rides faster. I made sure he got home OK. |

| Comments: Solo ride to Jean. Strong effort both ways, but pushed it more on the way back. Could have pushed harder I think. I got a great workout and my legs feel worked. |
| Weather Conditions: start at 84° and finish at 96° I had a ten mph headwind to the high point, then mostly calm getting to Jean. I got there with a 17 mph average. Coming back winds were very light. I thought they would help me more. |

| Comments: Club ride through Red Rock Valley. I did a lot of drafting until the steepest hill. This was the first time I was able to pass one of other rider on the climb. Of Course we had slight headwinds, so I had some advantage. I raced a different rider to the Overlook, dug-in and beat him. Legs are quite sore now. |

| Comments: Boulder City via Horizon Ridge. Hillier ride than usual for me. Legs feel good, though. about six miles from home I got lower track cramps. Finally got home to a restroom. During the cramps I just coasted. I had to force myself to pedal. |

Rear shifter motor stopped working, so I couldn't get out of low gear. I tried re-pairing it and re-setting it to no avail.
I had to cut my ride short and go home very slowly. It was frustrating!
I took it to the bike shop yesterday (Thurs) and expect the new part today (Fri). |

I wanted to get more miles, but that's the way it goes.
Flat was due to only using one layer of rim tape. One of the spoke holes opened and punctured the tubes. |

NO FLATS! I sanded the sharp parts of my rims, put on two layers of rim tape and used new tires.
Riding was fine except that I had pulled a shoulder muscle a few days ago and it hurt to use it. |

Comments: Solo Split Ends. Right hip seemed to pop in place during preride stretches. The muscles were still sore, but seemed to get better through the ride. Right knee cap, that I injured years ago at Ragbrai, was acting up. It hurt to support me when I had to stop.
In spite of these problems I still passed an electric bike. He caught me at a light and turned off before I could catch him again.

Heard a patrol car speaker tell me to get into the bike lane. By the time I could understand the garbled voice, there was little bike lane left. Besides, I was going the speed limit, so not blocking traffic. |
