Comments: Poudre River Trail from Kiva Inn in FoCO. Very curvy trail with tons of pedestrians in downtown FoCO on a holiday morning. Trail opened up on way to Timnath. Got lost multiple times. Some light way on way to Bellevue. 600' vertical. ATemp:75F

Comments: Returned to the swamp. 1st suffocating ride back on Tammany Trace. Took it relatively easy but still got hot by end especially at end. MDP:76F, not quite as stifling as when I left, but still almost overheated. ATemp:84F, Max 95F

Comments: Was going to ride exact same route as yesterday to improve time, but ran into Dennis on ride and rode with him. Chased down 1 roadie for fun. Added a few side routes. Sweated profusely but tolerated heat much better than yesterday. Still lost heart rate monitor, used watch again. ATemp:85F, MaxT:95F, MDP:76F Weird noise in back wheel, slightly dragging rear brake.

Comments: LongLeaf pre-RAGBRAI ride on a warm, humid, sultry morning but not overly stupidy hot (ATemp 81F, MDP:75F). Legs felt REALLY good for no apparent reason!!FOR ONCE!! 1050' vertical. Didn't push too hard but was tempo+. LL had restorroms closed past 1st town..grrr

Comments: Tanglefoot ride from Ingomar on way to RAGBRAI. Felt ok, but not as good as at LL. The wooden bridges rally beat me up (20+). Still very hot especially when sun came out in the open fields. 800' vertical, ATemp:82F, MDP: 74F

Comments: RAGBRAI LII Day 1 Orange City to Milford, IA. Early morning (0530), humid but FAR better than MS/LA. ATemp:73F, MDP:70F. Wind from East??!! Mostly crossheadwind to dead headwind. Slow rolls through towns lower avg speed. Rode mostly solo but the headwind/cross headwind really hurt knees by end. 1550' vertical, but wind was way worse than hills. Legs/kneesnsore by end. Felt like a MUCH longer and faster ride than metrics would indicate.

Comments: R LII - Day 2: Milford to Estherville, IA. Rode with Brad, Steve and Lori at a VERY easy pace which felt good to sore legs/knees. 1100' vertical. Heard thunder but was able to avoid rain. Good recovery ride.

Comments: R LII Day 3: Esterville to Forest City. Pulled virgin Ben most of day with mostly cross wind. Felt pretty good most of the day. 1400' vertical, warm but not overwhelming (ATemp:81F, MDP: 74F?). Felt MUCH faster than average speeed indicates.

Comments: R LII - Day #4. 61st Bday.. ;-) Mother Nature was pissed at me for unknown reasons and decided to punish 25k+ other people as colateral damage. 90%+ of the route was dead into a 15-25+ mph headwind during a heat advisory. Was the hardest day I've had in a while!! ATemp:85F, MaxT: 96F, MDP:76F, 1650' vertical. Wind was FAR more painful than rolling hills. Was completely hammered by end!

Comments: R LII - Day 5: Iowa Falls to Cedar Falls. Thankfully had a MUCH easier day than previous!! We actually had a cross tailwind in sections!! a 4 mile section near end was totally flat with cross tailwind... held 22-25 mph! Felt great!! Rode into town, then soft pedal to West O brewery.. ;-) Was a good day! Very humid but not nearly as hot (ATemp 75F, MDP: 72F?) 1300' vertical

Comments: R LII: Day 6 - Cedar Falls to Oelwin: Tried to ride with Team Schroth but got lost in the overwhelming amount of people. Started late due to rain. Rode very easy but was VERY humid after rain. ATemp:85F, MDP:77F? 1000' vertical

Comments: R LII - Day 7: Oelwin to Guttenburg, IA. Hilliest day by far with 2 relatively large steep hills right near end of tour, kinda brutal. I had off/on stomach issues and definitely breathing issues at start and up 2nd hill (steepest, sustained 8%+). VERY humid most of ride as mostly in fog and the brief light ride rain. ATemp:75F, MDP:77F. Couldn't breath at all right from start as we started immediate ascending rolling hills. Could barely keep up with Steve/Lori at start. Stopped for pie and iced coffee and midway. Stomach did not like all that sugar. Had to descend into a town for urgent Kybo stop. The had to climb out. Made 1st sustained 5-7% climb, but knees got sore. Had to walk part of 2nd 5-8%+ sustained climb. Felt WAY better after that and hammered to Guttenburg. 2450' climbing. I definitely need to lose weight.
