I like my new Cat Eye Quick speedometer. Small, simple and very readable. My fancy schmancy (but very cheap) one just stopped working with no explanation.
New speedo in at 33516 miles. |

First ride on new bottom bracket. Seems fine. Feels smoother. Not sure yet if it will go into the little ring more reliably. |

Comments: Inaugural ride on the new bike. Meandered around near the bike shop. Griffith, Penn Shop, Long Corner, Shaffersville, Shaffers Mill, Florence, Bennett.
Loved everything about the bike except the saddle. Rohloff is great. Gear range is plenty wide. Low gear is no faster than walking. Will probably only use highest gear for chasing a tandem downhill.
After the ride, back at the shop, I swapped out the stock Selle Italia saddle for a Brooks Flyer.
This was a pretty hilly ride -- 1000 ft of climb in 16 miles. The bike has the gears for it. |

New bike is great. Love the Rohloff. I always have the right gear. Bike is smooth and solid. Feels great. Only one problem is easily fixed -- seat post won't allow the nose of the saddle as high as I like it. That is easily fixed.
Just from lifting it onto the hooks, this bike seems heavier than the Riv, but it doesn't seem any slower. I had a 12.5 pace, which is about what I would have had on the Riv for this hilly ride.

| Comments: Exploration Lane. The left crank came loose on the way in, so I motored home with the bike on the car rack. I fear the crank is ruined. That's usually the case when they come loose like this. I'm sure I followed Sheldon's advice re-installing the cranks after changing the BB. Ride a mile, then re-tighten and do not repeat. |
