| Comments: Staged the car back at work. Biked home on the Americano. Getting close to having it dialed in. Had to reverse the seat-post to get the saddle nose up where I like it. Am I too far forward, now? Can't say without a longer ride.
New Cat Eye odo is dialed in. Agrees exactly with GPS over 4.94 miles. |

| Comments: Long way in -- Charlene QV, FH, WG, Olde Towne. Saddle situation is better, but not there yet. Saddle itself is comfortable enough. Creaks like mad, though. I think it might have been in a crash. There were some scuff marks on it when I picked it off the rack. Today, I noticed that the adjusting bolt is bent. I turned the seat post around and now I can get the nose up where I like it. But now, I'm too far forward. We'll get it straightened out. Even with these quibbles, the bike is a joy to ride. |

| Comments: Test ride for suspect crank. Left crank of the hybrid came off the other day. Usually, that means the aluminum square-taper crank is ruined. I put it back on, rode a mile, like Sheldon says, and tightened it again. After a few more miles, it is still tight. Hope it stays. |

Comments: Test ride with new rear wheel, cassette, and chain at 33603 miles.
Horrible creaking coming from bottom bracket. I suddenly realized that when I re-attached the cranks after the recent bottom bracket replacement, I neglected to grease the spindle. Sheldon would be appalled. Circled back home, pulled the cranks, greased the spindle, and replaced the cranks. Now they are quiet. Perhaps the left side crank, which worked its way off the other day, is not irreparably damaged.
Shifts are really smooth now with the new cassette and chain.
Just did a short loop through Charlene, Quail Valley, Cross Country, and Whetstone. |

Comments: Motored home by way of Mount Airy Bikes. Exchanged seat-post and saddle. Original seat-post couldn't put the nose up where I like it. Brooks Flyer saddle had a horrible creak. Now I have a B17. Did some test riding around the neighborhood. Springs on flyer are so stiff you'd think they wouldn't make much difference. My butt says otherwise. If I can't break in the B17, I'll swap saddles with the Raleigh or the Riv.
Today was Bike To Work Day, and I missed the party. Shoot! Well, at least I biked to work. |
