  Hi charlie,you don't know me but we have close to the same mileage. I am Kryptonic_FSU. I was reading rider profiles & came across yours. I am a 46yr. old rider in Florida who"s profile is similar to yours? I am not a fast rider, but am very consistant. I"vd logged 76,000 miles over the past 10 yrs. At age 63, I have been riding relatively seriously for over 40 years, with at least 5 dozen Centuries (sometimes several per year). On June 1, 2005, I began a still continuing "streak" of consecutive days without missing a single workout day. On Sept 30, 2013 that streak reached 8.33 STRAIGHT YRS (100 MONTHS) or 3,044 STRAIGHT DAYS, for almost 82K miles during that period. My minimum ride is generally at least one hour per day, which makes mileage accumulate quickly! I am NOT FAST so I have to be persistent, like the tortoise who passed the hare! This determined consistency logged over 10,000 MILES for each of the PAST 7 CALENDAR YEARS (2006-2012), and I will do it again in 2013! In July 2006, I rode alone from Benton AR to near Dallas in about 3 days, carrying a 20 pound backpack. That same year, I replaced my old Schwinn Super LeTour (after almost 30 years) with a Specialized Roubaix. I am training for a solo cross-country ride (which takes persistence not speed). But I would love to have partners! I ride in the Hotter N' Hell Hundred at Wichita Falls every August. |
