What a RAGBRAI booster, and unpaid too! Love your enthusiasm as supreme leader and grandboopah of Team Sunshine.

I hold Sunshine personally responsible for making me go insane over RAGBRAI 2007. I have known about RAG for years, but she is the Ultimate Cheerleader! I can hardly wait to meet her and ride with her. Well, ride with her for 10 feet and then behind her....further and further behind with each pedal stroke.

I'm new to bikejournal and just began browsing the forum. Sunshine, if I could connect with some out there bikin gals, i might shoot for RAG. I've lived too far from the mountains for too long. I miss that Rocky Mountain wild-woman spirit.

I got to meet Sunshine in August 2006 when several of us met for some bike rides in Colorado. It was Sunshine's LiveStrong ride in Denver that started the idea of the 2006 BikeJournal mini-reunion. We had some great rides and fun times that week. I returned to Colorado for three trips in 2007 and I really like it there. I have not forgotten that it was Sunshine's ride that started all of this. Thanks!

History:
|
I started spinning about winter 2002 and began riding outside. Then rode my 1st RAGBRAI on my trusty lil hybrid summer 2003 and quickly found out how hilly Iowa really is! But oh how much fun too. Shortly after RAG I did the Hilly Hundered in Indy but nothing compared to my 1st "official" ride. So haven't been back. But I did buy a road bike prior to the Hilly and that was part of the problem..I didn't know how to ride it/change gears etc. Kept losing my chain...you can't imagine my frustration. Couple that with 30 degree weather the Fri before the start and ants in my tent. I was definitely not a happy camper! Literally! : ) Well a few years later I love my bike (2004 Specialized Sequoia). I don't now how many miles I have but I know where you can find me the last week in July every year....RAGBRAI in Iowa. This will be my 4th! I thought I was only a beach vacation person but one trip with the tour de corn and many many pork chops and pie later I will continue to ride if only for that one event. Who knew? : ) |
