Because i'm a masters racer, i'll never be able to do the miles you're doing. I haven't done miles like that since I was a pro in Italy. But I know what kind of weather you have up there, and my hat's off to you. You're either very motivated, or totally insane. LOL.

Great to have you on the site, and thanks for openning your journal. It is inspiring and enjoyable to read. Amazing what you do, especially in light of living in Seattle and having a job! Keep up the strong work and best wishes on the year.

History:

Bought a used 1985 Stumpjumper in late 80s in Alaska and rode around 10,000 miles on it. Moved to Africa in early 90s and rode around 12,000 miles on Peace Corps Nishika mountain bike. Moved to Seattle and rode 1985 Stumpjumper around 9,000 miles until bought first new bike around 2001: Novara Ponderosa mountain bike with disc brakes. Rode around 3,000 miles commuting until Ride in the Rain challenge 2002. Averaged 15,000 miles per year until 2007 when I decided to finally break 20,000. Got 32,015 miles that year. 2008 I got exactly 20,000 for a 5-year total of exactly 100,000 miles. Now I want to maintain 20,000 miles every year. 2009 I went for elevation gain and managed 1,056,000 vertical feet climbed. No goals yet for 2010.
