My dad tells me I learned to ride a bicycle when I was 3 years old, because I had to keep up with my older brother. He taught me how to ride without training wheels - he tied a rope to the seat post and ran along behind me so I wouldn't tip over. As a kid I had a hand-me-down bicycle from our neighbors, a blue banana seat bike that was perfect for two, and a red huffy road bike in junior high and high school.

Today, I ride for fun and fitness. I've been doing mostly road cycling, but I just got my first full suspension XC mountain bike and am learning how much fun off road is!

Riding across America is on my bucket list (right, Teresa?). I also have a goal of doing as many cross state tours as possible.

Hardtail XC Mountain bike
Description:  This is my old mountain bike that I "borrowed" from my brother. This bike went to college with me and I used it to get around campus. The back tire, cassette, etc., were all stolen when it was parked outside of my dorm as a college freshman and I had to have them replaced. I also rode this on some trails in California. This has been a good low-end bike for getting around. One day I'll fix it up and put slicks on it for riding around town.

Description:  This bicycle belongs to my mother (she says she's going to will it to me). It's still in pretty good condition and able to be ridden. One of these days I plan to have it restored and repainted for my mom. She got it as a Christmas present in 1956 from her older sister.
