Rider Comments: |
Mike is a great rider and a very thoughtful person. When he leads a club ride, he is very concerned about not dropping anyone. He is the most dedicated rider I know.

History:
|
2012: Off to a good start thanks to a late start to Winter. I also got the Winter Beater back in road-worthy shape, so I hope to do more commuting this Winter.
2011: Got a new Brooks B17-Narrow saddle, and it took about 1,000 miles to break it in. It was worth it, though, when I got a new personal best (275 miles) in the N24HC even after getting lost and losing an hour to severe cramps. Lloyd and I rode the DALMAC Quint (I had the free entry that I won last year) with three guys (Alex, Cullen, and Dave) that we met at the start.

2006 Fuji Absolute 4.2
Tandem Road bike |
Description: After ABangma and RBangma loaned us their Trek "Winter Beater" tandem for the summer, TBurd and I were hooked.
A few weeks ago I went to Alger Bike and asked Brad if they had a good, entry-level tandem. At first he started to tell me that since Burley got out of the tandem business, and Fuji stopped making the Absolute, that they didn't have any tandems above the "beachcruiser" variety, but below the $2,500 Canondale level, but then he stopped, thought for a second, and said, "We might still have a Fuji tandem from a couple years back that needs to have the wheels rebuilt because a bad batch of spokes went through the industry that year." He led me up to the attic, and there it was!
A couple weeks later, we got our year end bonuses at my office, and the next day I went back to Alger and bought it!

I got this for my birthday this year (2004). This is now my commuter bike, and has the rack, trunk, a 10W Halogen headlight, and a 7 L.E.D. headlight (as a backup, and also because it has a "blink" mode to be extra attention getting).
