2004 was my first year of "serious" riding. Participated in NJ MS 150 City-to-Shore Tour and honored as "rookie of the year". Rode first century at Sea Gull Century in Salisbury, MD 10/04.
In 2005 I rode Bike Virginia which was quite a challenge in the hills of the Shenandoahs (300+ mi), did the City-to-Shore MS ride again and had the 9th highest contribution total out of ~6000 riders. Did the Sea Gull Century in torrential rain. I also enjoyed the Bike-Boat-Bike ride on Long Island and the Covered Bridge Metric Century in Lancaster, PA. I was named "Most Improved Rider" by Shore Cycle Club. In all I rode over 4,000 mi. in 2005.
2006 was my year of the charity rides! I again did the City-to-Shore MS ride after doing the Battle Against Hunger (BAH) ride the week before--more than 350 miles in succeeding weekends. Also did the ACS and ALS South Jersey rides.
In 2007, I did the PA Dutch MS ride and the BAH tour again. I took the family to Ireland and we toured the Connemara area. It was beautiful. I didn't get in those 4,000 miles for the year but my wife was happier :-).
In 2008, I did both Delaware Valley Chapter MS rides and the BAH tour. I also organzed a team with my local hospital to participate in the ACS ride. For pleasure, I joined some guys in June and toured Vermont for 5 days.
In 2009, I continued to do the MS City-to-Shore tour and the PA Dutch tour, the ACS bike-a-thon as well as the BAH tour and yes, I completed one item on my bucket lost by doing the NYC 5-Boro ride.
In 2010, I continued with the same charity rides. This year (2011), I'm still going strong!
Haven't written on here is a while. Still doing about the same level of riding as the past few years. In 2015, I did do one more bucket list ride--RAGBRAI!
After 2 serious bike accidents on X-mas day 2015 followed by another in March 2016, finally in 2017 I am pretty much back in form. After 13 years with my LiteSpeed, I finally got a new bike, a Trek Domane with disc brakes! Looking forward to riding it in the Shenandoah area at Bike Virginia.
