Started the bike back up again to commute to work to save driving the car 20km each day (not really worth it).

Started out with a free bike scored from a family member which has turned into the commuter after the purchase of a second hand Giant Anthem.

Fixed Gear Road bike
Description:  Bought as a frame to build a simple commuter on a budget in August 2017.

Started with the $89 Cell budget fixed gear frame, then added a $45 flip flop wheelset and parts from an old $5 tip bike, a couple of bits from the old commuter (Shogun Trailbreaker) and some mudguards I had laying around.

7/4/2019 (5,092km): Installed new Miche Track wheelset for $220 as the Reid J13 deep dish were rubbish. new wheelset saves 400g.

Currently running 44t chainset and 17t Surly Track sprocket for 69.13 gear inches.

Description:  Purchased 2nd hand from a fella called Mark in Geelong on 6/4/2012 for $1000. Was bought new from Torquay Cycling Centre in 2010.

Now affectionately known as the 'shit box' due to never being able to complete even the simplest of rides (including on road!). I'd prefer to enter the Shogun in a race, at least I know I'd finish.

Full service on 30/4/2012 @ 104km for $150, fork oil, new pads and cleaned rotors, brakes bled, hubs tightened and regreased, tune up.

Upgraded brakes from original m486 to m775 XT, ice tech 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors on 28/08/2013.

Road bike
Description:  picked up off Ebay from Geelong on 9/06/13 as a roadie / commuter / project, we'll see where this one goes :-)

It's already earned the nickname Thunder, as you see it go past as a flash of lightning, and then you hear it... BAAAAANG as the rider slams into a tree to slow down (must figure out the brake problem..).

Good condition, only need wheels trued, brakes adjusted and gears tuned.

07/02/2014: Steel wheels are beyond their usable life, replaced with new 700c shimano wheelset for $99, upgraded to 8 speed after minor hand modified parts to allow 8th gear to be selected.

Hardtail XC Mountain bike
Description:  The trailbreaker was a freebie and started me back into cycling with the odd trip into the forest, then commuting. Upgrades; 200mm front disc brake conversion.

At 5,000km (2012) it had a major rebuild, new front forks, new SLX crankset, pedals, handlebars and freehub.

As of 7/7/12 for winter, bike is being converted to a commuter, CrossMarks were suffering too many punctures to be practical, plus getting the Giant back on the road has led to the change, we'll see how it goes.

New rear wheel at 7,610km (first one built at home).

20/09/14 @ 13, 927km - New Hollowtech BB to replace worn BB

Retired in August 2017 as the frame had always been too small. Over the lifetime of the bike, the operating costs worked out to 4.8c/km.

Repco Lite 700
Road bike
Description:  The $10 tip find challenge: how far can Rob ride a $10 bike he found at the tip before it blows up?

Originally bought for parts for the Apollo, decided this one was too good to part out without one last run. So decided to do a silly challenge to have a laugh over winter.

Sold on ebay for $26 in November 2013.

Lifetime Odometer: 70.0 km
