I rode quite a bit in my late teens and early 20’s while growing up in SE Pennsylvania (River Road, Rt. 32, and I are old buddies). I rode an old Fuji that I got from who knows where. After college I moved to Houston, got a job and went on to other sports (volleyball, basketball, etc.), leaving cycling behind. As I started getting older those new sports just got to be too much and I stopped participating in sports all together. The job, married life and my new family just took too much time.

I started riding again in 1998 to help relieve some of the stress of modern living and to loose a few extra pounds. I got my Murray mountain bike from a pawnshop, figuring I’d go cheap until I found out if I really enjoyed the sport again. Within a few months I realized I was hooked again and went out a bought my GT road bike. I averaged about 1500 miles per year for the next few years, mostly riding alone. I was almost on the verge of either cutting back on the sport or giving it up all together when 2 things happen. I found co-workers to ride with (greko and grex) AND I discovered bikejournal. My enthusiasm for the sport was rekindled and I have been riding about 3500 a year for the past few years. As of now, I seem myself continuing in the sport for quite some time to come.
