Other than when I was a kid, started with a low-end hybrid Trek bike in 1999 as an alternative to running since I hurt my back. Got interested in rail trails and completed several of those in the Mid-Atlantic area, longest was over 80 miles in one day (Greenbrier). Then got interested in long road rides and completed a metric and full century rides on a fitness hybrid (Trek 7500FX). Got hooked on road bike riding the next year and bought a Lemond Buenos Aires. Fitness and speed improved. Rode about 3 years on the W&OD mostly before or after work since it was close by. But, transferred to another position and now mostly ride in the Middletown Valley with some rides north of Frederick to Gettysburg and some in Washington County. Average ride is 15-25 miles, but I like to do a few rides of 30-50 for an afternoon too. Got interested in Time Trials and tried that in 2005. My personal photo, (taken July 24, 2005) was when I was competing in my first Time Trial event. Not the fastest but the important things were I finished (17 out of 19) and met my personal speed goal of 20 mph or better for the 24+ mile course (21.4 mph). During the past year, started to compete in triathlons and completed 3 Olympic distances (~1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) in 2007. Hope to compete in an Ironman distance event someday.

	Description: OCLV 120 Carbon bike, black pearl finish. Frame shape ridden by US Postal during TdF. Rides smooth. Use it primarily for normal road riding. But dropped the bars, raised and reversed the seat post, added aerobars, wheel cover, and Tri saddle - Time Trial version. Lifetime Odometer: 7,395.7 miles

	2003 Trek 800 XC Mountain bike
	Description: This is my light trail bike, fitted with a rack. For the C&O Canal, Western Maryland Rail Trail, or others that are similar. Also the "riding with the family" bike. Lifetime Odometer: 175.8 miles

	Cannondale R400 Road bike
	Description: Rental from Tucson Bicycles. Not bad but early STI shifters and a little inconvenient when in the drops Lifetime Odometer: 118.6 miles
