I was an avid cyclist in the mid to late 80's, putting in many many miles while training (easy to do as a college student), and completing numerous organized rides and centuries. Then I got my first degree... its kinda funny how a career, family, and too many responsibilities can take away from one's recreational time! Now being older, supposedly wiser, and definitely much heavier; I'm re-evaluating my priorities. I tried to rebuild my old Raliegh Scott Tinley Tri-light, only to discover that wheels for the older, narrower rear dropouts (it was a 12 speed model) are hard to come by. I ended up scrapping that idea and got a pretty good deal on a late model Kestrel on ebay. So far, I have been very pleased with my new bike but have not been at all impressed with my level of conditioning... lots of work (miles) to do to get back in shape! |
