1983 Trek 420

Description: Red, 7-speed with 3 rings up front which proved really useful in the Swiss and French Alps when climbing with gear.
This was my main ride for more than 10 years, then I devoted it to my roller rail upon buying the LeMond in 2002. Alas, she must be consigned to the basement museum since the wheel stays broke in August 2004 and there's no known way to mend that injury.

Description: Gold - purchased in Lakewood, Colorado, while I was taking time off from college to review my options. One of those outcome options was to ride this bike 2,100 miles from Denver to Nashville during June 1981. The first 500 miles of this trip included 6 crossings of the continental divide. That's when I got hooked on the pain induced from hours of climbing.
This bike was stolen in 1983 from my dorm at the University of Arizona (Tucson).
