I can't stand it when people complain about the weather. Deal with the weather you have and make the best of it.
But... Right after the official Spring Vernal Equinox two weeks ago, we were teased with a couple of glorious, beautiful Spring weather days. Oh that was so nice.
Since then it's been Rain, cold, wind, and this weekend I woke up with snow on the ground on Saturday! (Not enough to ski on) Then it snowed again on Sunday. Geez, Today's Chicago White Sox home opener was even postponed until Tuesday when it's supposed to "warm up' to the low to mid 40's.

I made the best of it by working on the Emma Carlin trails at Kettle Morraine on Saturday, and my own trails on Saturday and Sunday. Cold weather is perfect for trail work, but I'm ready to ride.

Today I will listen to some "Spring" music (Since the Sox game was cancelled) in an effort to urge the climate gods, groundhogs, mother earth, or Storm, (the Halle Berry character in X-Men) whoever is in charge of the weather, to lighten up with the extended winter weather.

I'm ready for Spring.

Today's Spring music will be...

George Winston - Winter Into Spring.

Talk Talk - The Colour Of Spring.

Igor Stravinky - The Rite Of Spring.

Aaron Copland - Appalachian Spring.

I like to do both......complain and then go deal with it. I really like Aaron Copeland.

You have the proper attitude my friend! Complaining is allowed if you get out of the house. If it's too cold to bike, you ski.

Every time I hear a midwesterner bitch about the cold, I just ask them if they ever heard of a place called... (Pick one) Florida, Texas, Arizona, California... etc...

Copland rules! I discovered him through the 70's prog/art rock group Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Keith Emerson is a huge Copland fan and ELP has done rock versions of "Hoe Down" and "Fanfare For The Common Man"
Emerson even wrote a piano concerto (on the ELP Works Volume 1 album) that sounds like it could have been written by Copland.

It's all a matter of acclimation, from our individual perspectives. I was doing fine in March! The month progressed to spring with nary 2" of snow along the way.

Today I awoke to a less colorful arena, a blanket of snow on the ground, drifts in the road. Time again for the snow plow and salt spreader, the ice scraper for the windshield or Snow tires for the bike....
The heart hears the music playing but the eye sees the daffodils bowing, huddled and wilting under a blanket of snow.
