Ride Description: Ice Bike / Club Rouge Croix ride...
From Roland Olson Forest Preserve. Rode the LPT to Caledonia Road. The snow was packed pretty good, but provided enough rolling resistance to feel the difference going "uphill" and "downhill". I had to work a little to keep at 6 mph in one direction, but coming back I was able to cruise easily at 8.5 to 9 mph.
The SBT was easier to ride because it gets a little more snowmobile traffic.
Speaking of traffic, I saw a lot of people out there today, 6 or 7 groups of dog walkers, 2 women running and I actually saw a snowmobile on the LPT for the first time. I saw another snowmobile on the SBT, but it turned off the trail before it got to me.
I rode the SBT to Burr Oak Road and back. After 10.40 miles of the LPT & SBT, I did a couple laps on the Park road. It was plowed, and had a lot of ice. Riding on ice is fun.

I got out to ride on New Years Day for the first time since joining Bikejournal. In fact, this might be the first time I've EVER ridden my bike on January 1st.
I wanted to get in a ride for every bikejournalist that is unable to ride because of illness or injury.
Photo #1... This is only a warning... Don't get too close to the edge!
Photo #2... A hard packed, snowy Stone Bridge Trail.
Photo #3... Under the Interstate I-90 bridge. No snow under the bridge, just a nice stretch of semi-frozen sand.
