Ride Description: Wow! Solid ice conditions! A great ride, about 8 miles of the 10 were really bumpy frozen footprints.

I saw two other bikers out there today, one was Larry R. and on my last lap, a young tall kid on a rigid bike, running low pressure on wide tires left me in the dust.

It was really fun, like riding a long rock garden.

Oh Man! What a fun ride today. I went over to Hononegah Forest Preserve to check out the singletrack.
A recent warm thaw and rain, followed by a week of single digit temperatures made all of the snow hard and rideable.

Unlike the last time I rode here, there were no soft spots to worry about. For the most part, it was very bumpy, but if you put the hammer down, it was a blast. Several ice crossings were pretty kool to ride.
My camera batteries died before I got to the really kool sections, .

When I got there, a guy on his bike was just coming out of the park, we talked a bit about tires, he was running old bald worn out knobbies. And said he wasn't having any problems with traction, just as long as you don't make any quick moves.

He's also building trail at Rockport Park, I've never been there, so now I have some new singletrack to check out this Spring. He rides with the Janesville Velo Club and Michael's Cycles.

As I was heading in for my last lap, a young tall kid on an older rigid Trek, went into the trail before me. He was running wide, fat tires and low air pressure. I was curious to see how fast he'd be able to go without studs. Well, he was pretty fast. And he left me in the dust. Oh to be young again. After seeing that, I think I could push my tires a little more.

With 10 miles Friday, 17.5 miles on Saturday, And todays 10.01 mile ride, It was a great weekend of riding.
