This morning I drove to Furman and met Mark to ride to George Hincapie's Gran Fondo. We left Furman around 10 and headed up the backroads of North Greenville County. It was a tough ride with a lot of climbing and the weather didn't cooperate. It was very windy and we didn't see any sun. The wind had stirred up the dust and it was mixed with the morning fog. We rode a lot of backroads and did a lot of climbing in the hills of North Greenville. We made it to Le Domestique which is the start and finish for George Hincapie's Gran Fondo. We parked the bikes and checked things out, then headed for the food. i had a sandwich, and a serving of stir-fy, then some slaw, barbecue, and toast. I washed it down with a bottle of water and a bottle of Gatorade. Then I had some delicious cookies and anotehr bottle of water. We went to the finish line and listened to the PA call out the finishers and watched the Fondo on the Jumbotron. Then we decided to head out. Our friend Don was supposed to ride back with us, but he hadn't arrived yet. We saw Peter working the biek valet and my friend Nancy working the soft drink booth. As we were leaving we ran in EClaire and Kimberly. Then Don finally called back and he still wasn't there. We headed out to return and after riding those climbs, then sitting and standing for a couple of hours my thighs were really hurting. It took about half the ride back to get the hurt out of my thighs, but the oomph was gone from them as well. We made it back, but those climbs wore me out!! At Furman I called Cis and we met at Duke's for a Dogg before going home.
